Camp Nanowrimo

Nanowrimo, which is short for National Novel Writing Month, happens over the month of November and we do our best to participate, when life doesn't have other plans. (Although, honestly, it's an international event in which anyone anywhere in the world can participate.)
The idea is to write a 50,000 word novel in thirty days. Those who meet or exceed that word count win. There are plenty of winner goodies provided through nanowrimo.org and participants have a finished first draft manuscript, which is an awesome accomplishment of and by itself.
Camp Nanowrimo happens in April and July and is designed to allow greater freedom in projects. Word count is adjustable and writing a novel isn't required. Participants can write plays, poetry, edit a project... I think there are more options than that.
This coming Saturday is the beginning of this year's July Camp session. We're set with a project and looking for cabin mates for the first time. If you've always wanted to write something, check out campnanowrimo.org

Several of our published works were Nanowrimo or Camp winners, including Beneath the Waves, Kedri Dancer, Old Tales Retold, A Sprite and Her Dragon, Dragonsbane Kingsbane, and more.

How to Buy our Books

As much as we would love to have a store on this site for your shopping convenience, it isn't possible at the moment. We will keep you updated as stuff shifts and things change. There will definitely be great celebration when we finally get a store on site properly launched.
In the meantime we've included links to sellers with each book listing on our site.
One of these is for print books and will take you to the store for our printer, Createspace. Yes, we are aware purchases require a Createspace account, which isn't something most people have. However, we've found ordering from Createspace directly has the best shipping options. Our print books can also be found for sale on Amazon in the US, Canada, UK, and Europe.
The other link is for ebooks and will take you to Smashwords. This is due to compliance with Smashwords' Terms of Service, which prohibits taking ebooks they've converted (yes, they do our ebook conversion because of the number of formats they convert to) and selling them on other sites. That said, Smashwords is an ebook distributor and responsible for making our ebooks available at your favourite ebook retailer.

Unfortunately, until we can either print our own books or at least move our printing much closer to home (a longterm goal of ours) it is only possible to get signed copies of our books if you buy them in person. As things stand right now, signed books would require double shipping (once to get them to the author to sign and then again to ship it to the reader).

Free Short Stories

This has been posted on Facebook before, but I thought I would share it here as well:
Most of the short stories published by Howling Wolf Books are available free to download in most ebook formats. These include:
Dance With Me
Autumn Wandering
To Rescue A Hero
Rose & Sage
Once A Thief
Magic Gone Wrong
Observer of the Arcane

All of which are listed on Our Short Works page. Yes, the link will take you to Smashwords. They do our conversion to ebook as well as ebook distribution. They are the reason you can find these and all our ebooks at your favourite ebook retailer. And, I believe, you do not need a Smashwords account to download freebies. Although having a Smashwords account grants you access to all kinds of books and authors who may not even be found elsewhere. (I've found some good stuff browsing Smashwords listings.)

Your Story

What is preventing you from writing your story?
Now, seriously, what is preventing you from writing your story?
You know which story. It's been swirling round your head for years. Maybe even your whole life. The story you're secretly dying to share with the world. The story with the power to change someone's world if you could just get it out of your head and out for the world to see.
So what's stopping you?
Your story is your story. It doesn't have to fit anyone else's categorizations. It doesn't have to meet a set word count. It's anything you need it to be.
It doesn't have to be 'perfect'. There's no such thing anyway. Your story is enough, however it comes out.
If this all sounds familiar or cliche, maybe you need to hear it one more time anyway.
